ABOUT THIS WINE
Maison Tardieu-Laurent Gigondas 2021 is a red wine from the AOC Gigondas in the Southern Rhône Valley, France. The wine is produced from a blend of Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, and Syrah, sourced from four vineyard parcels. A distinctive feature of this wine is its origin from old vines, with Grenache and Mourvèdre averaging over 40 years of age, and some vines exceeding 60 years. The 2021 vintage was characterized by challenging weather, including frost, followed by beneficial rain and moderate temperatures, leading to a late harvest with naturally low yields. Maison Tardieu-Laurent, founded in 1994, is known for its meticulous selection of old vine fruit from iconic Rhône terroirs, aiming for authentic and high-quality wines.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Maison Tardieu-Laurent Gigondas 2021 is produced using traditional winemaking methods. Grapes are fermented in cement tanks with 25% whole bunch inclusion. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes a two-stage aging process: 10 months in one and two-year-old barrels, followed by an additional 10 to 12 months in foudre. This careful aging regimen aims to integrate oak influence while preserving the wine's fruit character and developing complexity.
