ABOUT THIS WINE
Ver Sacrum, meaning 'Sacred Spring' in Latin, was founded in 2012 by mountaineer Eduardo Soler and a passionate group of winemakers known as the 'Team Garnachista.' Their mission is to champion the comeback of historic Mediterranean and Rhône grape varieties in Argentina, which were largely uprooted in the mid-20th century in favor of Malbec. Sourced from a tiny, high-altitude parcel in the stony soils of Los Chacayes within the Uco Valley, this wine represents a dramatic, elegant departure from traditional, heavily-oaked Argentinian reds. The striking label features silent film icon Gloria Swanson, symbolizing the dramatic comeback of Grenache in the region.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for this vintage is highly deliberate and low-intervention. Grapes are hand-harvested from goblet-trained bush vines and undergo a rigorous selection. Fermentation begins with 50% whole clusters, starting with a four-day cold semi-carbonic maceration on the skins to maximize aromatic expression while keeping tannin extraction low. The juice is then pressed off the skins to complete an 18-day fermentation using only native yeasts. Aging takes place over 18 months in a split of 50% locally made clay amphorae and 50% third-use French oak barrels. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, followed by an extensive 20-month bottle-aging program before commercial release.
