ABOUT THIS WINE
Godelia Selección Mencía is a premium red wine from Bodegas Godelia, located in the D.O. Bierzo region of Spain. It is produced exclusively from 100% Mencía grapes, sourced from centenary vines cultivated at high altitudes (700-800m) on steep, south-facing slopes with slate soils. This wine is produced only in exceptional years, representing a select expression of the Mencía grape from Bierzo. The García Rodríguez family founded Bodegas Godelia in 2009 with a passion for agriculture and a goal to establish a wine legacy in El Bierzo, focusing on sustainable viticulture and the region's indigenous varietals.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Godelia Selección Mencía begins with a double manual selection of grapes, first by bunch and then by berry, followed by gentle destemming. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks, barrels, or amphorae, with malolactic fermentation taking place in barrel. The wine is then aged for 16 months in new French oak barrels. Bodegas Godelia employs sustainable viticulture practices, including avoiding herbicides and promoting healthy soil, reflecting a commitment to environmental stewardship.
