ABOUT THIS WINE
Golpe Reserva 2016 is a red wine from the Douro DOC, produced by Manuel Carvalho Martins Lda (Família Carvalho Martins). The family has a four-generation legacy in viticulture at their Quinta Vale do Olmo estate in Mêda, Douro Superior. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 530-600 meters on schist soils with granitic elements. The current generation, brothers Vasco and Rui Martins, manage the winemaking process from vineyard to bottle, aiming to express the minerality and freshness of their terroir. The wine is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Franca. The Douro DOC is Portugal's highest wine classification and a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its structured and age-worthy red wines.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Golpe Reserva 2016 is produced using traditional Portuguese grape varieties. Following harvest, the grapes undergo fermentation, likely with controlled temperatures to manage extraction of color and tannins. The wine is then aged in oak, a process designed to enhance its structure and complexity. The winemaking aims to reflect the minerality and freshness characteristic of the Quinta Vale do Olmo terroir, guided by the family's philosophy of vineyard, tradition, and family dialogue. Sustainable agriculture is practiced at the estate.
