ABOUT THIS WINE
The Gran Enemigo Single Vineyard Gualtallary Cabernet Franc 2019 is a red wine from Puerto Ancona S.A. (Bodega Aleanna/El Enemigo) in Mendoza, Argentina. It is produced from 85% Cabernet Franc and 15% Malbec, grown in the Gualtallary region at an altitude of approximately 1,470 meters. The vineyard soil is calcareous and rocky. The wine is noted for its purity and minerality, drawing inspiration from traditional Pomerol winemaking. El Enemigo is a collaboration between Adrianna Catena and Alejandro Vigil, focusing on expressing terroir with minimal intervention. The 2019 vintage was cool and dry, contributing to concentrated fruit and acidity.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Gran Enemigo Single Vineyard Gualtallary Cabernet Franc 2019 undergoes fermentation in barrels at an average temperature of 22°C, preceded by a 5-day cold maceration and followed by an average maceration of 23 days. Approximately 30-40% whole bunch fermentation is employed. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 15 months in 100-year-old foudres and French oak barrels of 2nd and 3rd use. The harvest is conducted with multiple passes over 1 to 1.5 months to ensure optimal ripeness. The producer's philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention to express the purity of the terroir.
