ABOUT THIS WINE
Família Larentis, located in the heart of Vale dos Vinhedos in Bento Gonçalves, Brazil, traces its winemaking roots back to 1876 when Arcangelo Gabriele Larentis emigrated from Trento, Italy. Today, the estate is managed by the fifth generation, with winemaker André Larentis leading the production. The 'Sta Lúcia Parcela 1.1' represents the crown jewel of their Single Vineyard portfolio. This micro-parcel of Merlot was planted in the late 1980s, pioneering the vertical trellis system (espaldeira) in a region historically dominated by pergola training. The vineyard is situated on a well-drained, undulating clayey terrain with exceptional solar exposure, allowing the grapes to achieve optimal phenolic ripeness. This highly allocated wine is only produced in exceptional vintages, with a production limited to just 2,000 bottles for the 2022 vintage, making it a rare and highly sought-after expression of Brazilian terroir.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for the Parcela 1.1 Merlot is designed to maximize the expression of this specific micro-terroir. Grapes are manually harvested from the 30-year-old vines with strict cluster selection in the vineyard. Upon arrival at the winery, the fruit undergoes traditional temperature-controlled fermentation. Continuous pigeage (punch-downs) and remontage (pump-overs) are employed to ensure a gentle yet thorough extraction of color, flavor, and structured tannins. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes a prolonged post-fermentation maceration and complete malolactic fermentation. It is then aged for 15 months in French oak barrels, followed by extensive bottle aging in the winery's underground cellars before commercial release.
