ABOUT THIS WINE
Trader Joe's Grand Reserve Meritage Lot #129 is a curated private-label offering sourced from the rolling hills of Paso Robles, California. Produced in collaboration with Bozzano & Company, a specialist in sourcing high-end bulk wines, this bottling represents an effort to bring estate-quality fruit to an accessible price point. The Meritage designation indicates a blend of traditional Bordeaux grape varieties, crafted to showcase the depth and complexity of the Central Coast terroir. By utilizing surplus grapes from premium vineyards that typically command much higher prices, this Grand Reserve bottling offers a snapshot of Paso Robles' diverse soils, which are rich in marine fossils and volcanic remnants.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for this Meritage blend focuses on traditional Bordeaux-style vinification adapted to California's climate. The blend is composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Malbec, 8% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. Following fermentation in temperature-controlled vessels, the wine underwent an extensive aging program. It was matured for 22 months in French oak barrels, utilizing a combination of 25% new French oak and 75% neutral oak. This prolonged barrel contact helps integrate the components, soften the structure, and prepare the wine for bottling.
