Produced by Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines, it is a single-terroir expression sourced from dry-farmed bush vines rooted in decomposed granite soils on the Paardeberg. The winery, established in 2007, is dedicated to creating authentic Swartland wines that reflect the distinct terroir of the region, employing reasoned, sustainable farming practices and a minimalist approach to winemaking. The 2020 vintage benefited from a long, cool growing season.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Mullineux Granite Syrah 2020 is produced using 100% Syrah grapes. Key techniques include foot-trodden, whole-bunch fermentation with native yeasts, followed by a maceration period of approximately 28 days. The wine is then matured for 12 months in 500L French oak barrels, with about 50% being new, and an additional 10 months in 2000L foudre. Grapes are sourced from dry-farmed bush vines. Minimal sulfur is added, and the wine is not fined or filtered.
