ABOUT THIS WINE
The Meinklang Graupert 2022 is an orange wine from Austria's Burgenland region, made from 100% Pinot Gris. The name 'Graupert' reflects the vineyard's unconventional viticultural approach, where vines are left unpruned to grow freely. This practice, along with extended skin maceration, contributes to the wine's distinctive character. Meinklang is a family-run, self-sufficient biodynamic farm that emphasizes biodiversity and natural winemaking principles, integrating their vineyards into a larger ecosystem of crops and livestock.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Meinklang Graupert 2022 is produced from 100% Pinot Gris grapes. Following harvest, the grapes undergo a maceration period of 10 to 17 days on their skins, which imparts the wine's characteristic color and structure. Fermentation is spontaneous, utilizing indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for about 8 months on its fine lees, primarily in concrete eggs and stainless steel tanks. It is bottled unfiltered and unfined, with minimal or no added sulfites, reflecting the producer's commitment to natural winemaking.
