ABOUT THIS WINE
Greywacke is the personal venture of Kevin Judd, one of Marlborough's pioneer winemakers who spent 25 years directing the winemaking at Cloudy Bay. Established in 2009, the estate is named after New Zealand's ubiquitous grey riverbed stones. The winery focuses on low-intervention, texture-driven wines that showcase a sophisticated side of Marlborough. Each bottle features Judd's own professional landscape photography, reflecting his dual passion for wine and visual art.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The fruit is hand-harvested and whole-bunch pressed using low-pressure cycles. The un-settled juice is then transferred directly into French oak barriques (approximately 20% new), where it undergoes spontaneous fermentation with indigenous wild yeasts. The wine undergoes 100% complete malolactic fermentation in barrel, with occasional lees stirring (bâtonnage) to build texture and complexity. It is aged for 11 months in oak before being racked and settled prior to bottling.
