ABOUT THIS WINE
The Gricos Aglianico del Vulture 2021 is a red wine from the Aglianico del Vulture DOC in Basilicata, Italy, produced by Lucania sas di Piccin Fabrizio Maria & C, also known as Grifalco della Lucania. The wine is made from 100% Aglianico grapes sourced from younger vines. Grifalco's 'Gricos' is intentionally produced to be more approachable and drinkable at a younger age, earning it the moniker of an 'everyday barbecue wine'. The Piccin family, originally from Tuscany, founded Grifalco della Lucania in Basilicata, drawn by the region's winemaking potential. The Vulture area, situated on the slopes of Monte Vulture, provides a distinctive terroir for this wine.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Gricos Aglianico del Vulture 2021 is produced from 100% Aglianico grapes. The grapes undergo fermentation on their skins for about 12 days in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26°C. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 4 months in small oak barrels (225 liters). It then spends an additional 6 months aging in the bottle. The grapes are sourced from younger vines, a decision made to ensure the wine is more forward and drinkable at a younger age.
