ABOUT THIS WINE
Feudo Arancio, located in Acate within the Ragusa province of southern Sicily, is a state-of-the-art estate owned by Gruppo Mezzacorona. Designed in the style of a traditional Sicilian 'baglio' (a fortified estate with a central courtyard), the winery is deeply rooted in Sicilian culture, featuring labels adorned with Moorish-influenced geometric designs reminiscent of ancient Sicilian Majolica ceramic tiles. Feudo Arancio was a pioneer in treating the indigenous Grillo grape—historically reserved for fortified Marsala—as a premium, single-varietal dry table wine. The 2015 vintage benefited from an excellent growing season with moderate winter rainfall and a warm, dry summer, allowing the late-ripening Grillo grapes to achieve exceptional structural balance.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for this Grillo is strictly anaerobic, utilizing reductive vinification where pressing and destemming occur in a fully sealed environment under inert gas to prevent oxidation and preserve delicate fruit thiols. Grapes are harvested at night during the second week of September to maintain acidity. Following natural cold settling, fermentation takes place using selected yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 18°C (64°F) for 10 days. The wine is 100% unoaked and is matured on its fine lees (sur lie) in stainless steel tanks for five months with continuous bâtonnage (lees stirring) to enhance body, texture, and aromatic stability.
