WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Gurrieri Syrah undergoes a winemaking process that begins with de-stemming and gentle pressing of the grapes. A cold prefermentative maceration is followed by fermentation on the skins for approximately 20 days at controlled temperatures, employing pumping over and delestage for extraction. Malolactic fermentation is also carried out. The wine is then aged, typically in steel tanks, before spending time in second and third passage barriques for 6-8 months or in wooden barrels for 8-10 months, with some producers using a short passage in oak.
