ABOUT THIS WINE
Guru is a distinguished white wine from Wine & Soul, Lda, a renowned estate founded in 2001 by winemakers Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges. Hailing from the Douro region of Portugal, this wine embodies the unique terroir of its origin. It is crafted from a 50-year-old field blend of indigenous Douro grape varieties, including Viosinho, Rabigato, Codega do Larinho, and Gouveio. The grapes are sourced from the Murça vineyard, characterized by its schist soils and northern exposure, situated at an elevation of 1,650 feet. This high-altitude, old-vine vineyard contributes significantly to the wine's complexity and distinctive character, reflecting the rich winemaking heritage of the Douro.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Guru begins with a meticulous harvest in August. Following the harvest, fermentation takes place in new French oak barriques, a process that lasts for 15 days. This choice of fermentation vessel is crucial, imparting structure and complexity to the wine. After fermentation, the wine undergoes an aging period of 7 months, also in new 225L French oak barriques. This extended contact with new oak contributes to the wine's medium-full body and integrates the oak characteristics seamlessly with the fruit and mineral profile. The careful vinification and aging regimen are designed to preserve the wine's inherent freshness and minerality while building layers of flavor and texture.
