ABOUT THIS WINE
Bodega Hacienda López de Haro is situated in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, a renowned winemaking enclave in Rioja Alta. Established under the Vintae group by José Miguel Arambarri alongside winemakers Richi and José Miguel and chief winemaker Raúl Acha, the bodega produces contemporary expressions of traditional Rioja styles. Fruit is sourced from old bush vines planted on poor limestone and clay terraces along the Ebro River, sheltered by the Sierra de Cantabria. The 2017 vintage saw a severe spring frost followed by a hot, dry summer, resulting in reduced yields of small, highly concentrated grapes ideal for extended aging.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Hand-harvested in October, the grapes undergo temperature-controlled fermentation in 30,000 kg capacity vats at 25-28°C, with approximately two weeks of skin maceration. The wine is aged for 30 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels, around 80% of which are neutral and 20% new. Following oak maturation, the wine rests in bottle for over three to four years prior to release, exceeding the minimum legal aging requirements for DOCa Rioja Gran Reserva.
