ABOUT THIS WINE
Haloze Blanc by Vino Gross is a 2021 vintage white wine from the Štajerska Slovenija region of Slovenia, specifically the Haloze Hills. Produced by Maria and Michael Gross, the wine is a field blend of Furmint, Sauvignon Blanc, and Welschriesling, cultivated on steep, hand-farmed organic terraces. The producer's philosophy centers on natural winemaking, utilizing spontaneous fermentation and minimal intervention. The 2021 vintage is noted for its youthful density and structure, requiring time to develop. The wine is a direct expression of its unique terroir, characterized by 'Opok' marl soil and challenging vineyard conditions.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Haloze Blanc is produced using spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in large, neutral oak barrels. Following fermentation, it undergoes an extended aging period of 10-12 months on gross lees in oak, then an additional 4-6 months on fine lees in stainless steel tanks. The wine is bottled unfiltered and unfined, with no added sulfur dioxide for the 2021 vintage. Vineyard work, including harvest, is performed manually due to the challenging, steep terraced landscape.
