ABOUT THIS WINE
Haragán Reserva Especial 2017 is a red wine from Bodega Pago de los Balancines, located in the Ribera del Guadiana appellation of Extremadura, Spain. The wine is a blend of Tinta Roriz, grown on old vines influenced by Atlantic winds, and Garnacha Tintorera, a signature grape of the estate. The wine's name and concept are a tribute to the Spanish Mastiff, reflecting the winery's commitment to heritage and the unique character of its old vineyards. Bodega Pago de los Balancines was established in 2006 by Pedro Mercado, who was drawn to a specific vineyard with ancient Tinta Roriz vines. WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Haragán Reserva Especial begins with hand-harvesting grapes at night, followed by a 24-hour cold chamber treatment. Selected bunches are destemmed without crushing and placed in vats for fermentation with selected yeasts. Daily manual pump-overs are performed. The wine then undergoes cold maceration and malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. It is subsequently aged in French oak for 15 to 24 months before bottling.
