ABOUT THIS WINE
Hedges Family Estate Red Mountain 2021 is a red wine from the Red Mountain AVA in Washington State. The estate, founded by Tom and Anne-Marie Hedges, is now managed by their children, Sarah and Christophe Hedges. The family's philosophy centers on crafting wines that authentically reflect the Red Mountain terroir through sustainable and biodynamic farming. The Red Mountain AVA is known for its mineral-rich soils, abundant sunshine, and persistent winds, which contribute to full ripeness and retained acidity. The 2021 vintage is characterized by its complex profile of red and black fruits with spice notes.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Hedges Family Estate employs a philosophy of minimal intervention in its winemaking. Fermentation is initiated with wild ambient yeasts, and the wine is not filtered or fined. The red wines are aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels, with about 30% of the barrels being new. The estate is deeply committed to biodynamic and organic farming practices across all its vineyards, with all five vineyards certified biodynamic by Demeter in 2021. This approach aims to produce wines that authentically reflect the Red Mountain terroir.
