ABOUT THIS WINE
Högberga Clairet 2021 is a red wine produced by Högberga Vinfabrik, a winery notable for being the first in Sweden to cultivate wine from Tuscan grapes. This wine is a Swedish interpretation of the traditional Bordeaux Clairet style. The grapes are grown in the Maremma region of Tuscany, Italy, on mineral-rich sandy soil. The 2021 vintage involved hand-harvesting in early September. The winery was founded by friends Per Hallgren and Johan Zälle, who were inspired by their shared love for wine and a desire to push boundaries in winemaking.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Högberga Clairet 2021 is produced using the Saignée method, where 20% of the must is drawn off from tanks fermenting blue grapes and then fermented separately. Alcoholic fermentation is controlled in stainless steel tanks at temperatures ranging from 22-29°C. The grapes are hand-harvested in early September. The wine is bottled in May of the following year. The winery's approach is characterized by its innovative spirit, aiming to produce quality wines from Tuscan grapes in Sweden.
