ABOUT THIS WINE
Troupis Winery, established in 2010 by the Troupis family in the Peloponnese region of Greece, has deep roots in the high-altitude plateau of Mantinia, where they have cultivated vineyards since the 1970s. The 'Hoof & Lur' bottling represents a modern renaissance of the indigenous Moschofilero grape, utilizing low-intervention, traditional methods. Sourced from the cold, mountainous Arcadia region, this wine highlights the unique potential of Moschofilero—a pink-skinned grape historically used for light whites—by allowing extended skin contact to craft a structured, expressive orange wine that pays homage to the region's ancient winemaking heritage.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The 2023 'Hoof & Lur' is crafted using minimal-intervention techniques. Grapes are hand-harvested from 27-year-old vines in the high-altitude Litharakia and Katarrachia plots. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are cooled and gently crushed. The must undergoes spontaneous fermentation with indigenous wild yeasts in concrete tanks, remaining in contact with the grape skins for 11 days to extract color, structure, and complexity. Following fermentation, the wine is aged on its fine lees for three months in concrete vessels. It is bottled raw, unfined, and unfiltered, with minimal sulfur additions.
