ABOUT THIS WINE
Intacto by Pivnica Čajkov is a unique skin-contact white wine from Slovakia, made exclusively from the Devín grape. The vineyards are located in the village of Čajkov, within the Nitra Wine Region, specifically on the volcanic soils of the Sitno volcano's caldera. This wine is a multi-vintage blend, a deliberate choice by winemaker Marek Uhnák to achieve balance and complexity. Uhnák's winemaking journey with Devín, a grape he initially found challenging, is central to the wine's identity, representing a transformation and acceptance of the variety. Pivnica Čajkov is a historic family winery, and Uhnák's philosophy centers on minimal intervention and expressing the distinct volcanic terroir.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Intacto is produced from 100% Devín grapes, which are destemmed and crushed before undergoing skin maceration for one to three weeks. Fermentation is initiated by indigenous yeasts, with the wine then aging for one to two years in old oak barrels in a cool, stable cellar. Some barrels may be partially topped up to encourage slight micro-oxidation. The wine is intentionally bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve its natural character, with only a small addition of sulfur at bottling. It is a multi-vintage blend, combining grapes from different years to achieve a harmonious and complex final product.
