ABOUT THIS WINE
Tenuta J. Hofstätter, located in Tramin (Termeno) in the Alto Adige region of northern Italy, is one of the area's most historic and prestigious family-owned estates. Founded in 1907, the winery is currently managed by Martin Foradori Hofstätter. The estate is particularly famous for its pioneering work with single-vineyard (Vigna) classifications in the region. The 'Joseph' Gewürztraminer is named in honor of the estate's founder, Josef Hofstätter. It is sourced from select vineyards situated on slopes with loose, easily warmed gravelly soils, which are ideal for bringing out the intense, characteristic aromatics of the Gewürztraminer grape in its spiritual homeland of Tramin.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes for the 'Joseph' Gewürztraminer are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes undergo a brief cold maceration on the skins for several hours to maximize the extraction of primary aromatic compounds. This is followed by gentle pressing and static decantation of the must. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at a cool temperature to preserve the delicate floral and fruit aromas. The wine is then aged on its fine lees in stainless steel tanks for several months before bottling, avoiding any oak contact to maintain the pure, vibrant varietal character of the grape.
