ABOUT THIS WINE
Bakkanali is a passion project born in 2017, founded by celebrated winemaker Sebastian Nasello and wine specialist Ugo Fabbri. Seeking to break free from traditional, heavily extracted Tuscan styles, they crossed the valley from Montalcino to the northwestern slopes of Monte Amiata, a dormant volcano. In the remote mountain village of Poggioferro, historically known for sheep herding, they established high-altitude vineyards. The name Bakkanali pays homage to the Roman Bacchanalia—wild, joyful feasts celebrating friendship, ecstasy, and the pleasure of sharing wine without rules.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Crafted with a minimal-intervention natural winemaking approach, the grapes are hand-harvested from a 3.5-hectare organic parcel at 600 meters elevation. Unlike other Bakkanali cuvées that employ whole-bunch or carbonic maceration, the grapes for 'K' are destemmed and crushed. Spontaneous fermentation occurs using only indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. To preserve the pure, unembellished primary fruit and mountain minerality, the wine is aged entirely in stainless steel with no oak influence. Added sulfur is kept to an absolute minimum.
