ABOUT THIS WINE
Pontiglio Winery is located in the southern part of Corfu, Greece, in the traditional winemaking village of Lefkimmi. Run by the Meziri family, the boutique estate is dedicated to reviving and showcasing the island's indigenous grape varieties, most notably Kakotrigis. The name 'Kakotrigis' translates to 'difficult harvest,' referring to the tough stems of the grape bunches that make harvesting by hand a laborious task. This wine represents a classic expression of Corfu's unique terroir, shaped by the Ionian Sea's maritime influence, high humidity, and the island's lush, green landscape.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes are hand-harvested from low-yielding vineyards in southern Corfu. After careful sorting, the grapes undergo gentle pressing followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh, primary fruit aromas and crisp acidity characteristic of the Kakotrigis variety. The wine is aged on its fine lees for a short period in stainless steel before bottling to add texture and complexity without the influence of oak.
