ABOUT THIS WINE
Kelley Fox Wines was founded by winemaker Kelley Fox and her father Gerson "Gus" Stearns in Oregon's Willamette Valley. Deeply influenced by Oregon wine pioneer David Lett of The Eyrie Vineyards, Kelley takes an intuitive, minimalist approach to viticulture and winemaking. The Carter Vineyard is located at the southern end of the Eola-Amity Hills AVA, planted on thin volcanic Nekia soils over basalt bedrock. This bottling comes from historic own-rooted vines planted in 1983, which are organically farmed. The combination of old, self-rooted vines and the unique microclimate of the Eola-Amity Hills produces a wine of remarkable transparency and terroir expression.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes were hand-harvested on September 19, 2021. In the cellar, fermentation was carried out entirely with ambient, indigenous wild yeasts. The vinification included 30% whole clusters. No chemical adjustments, commercial enzymes, fining agents, or filtration were used throughout the process. The wine was aged for 10 months in tight-grained, neutral French oak Burgundy barrels (0% new oak) to preserve the pure expression of the vineyard. A minimal amount of sulfur dioxide was added at bottling, which took place on May 27, 2022.
