ABOUT THIS WINE
The Koonunga Hill range takes its name from one of Penfolds' historic vineyards in the Barossa Valley, acquired in the mid-1970s. Founded in 1844 by Dr. Christopher and Mary Penfold at Magill Estate, Penfolds is one of Australia's most revered winemaking institutions. First created with the 1991 vintage and launched in 1993, Koonunga Hill Chardonnay was established to deliver an approachable, high-quality white wine equal in stature and value to its famous red counterpart.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Sourced via Penfolds' multi-regional blending philosophy, fruit is gathered across key South Australian regions including the cool Adelaide Hills and warm Barossa Valley. Fermentation is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks alongside French oak barriques. A portion of the wine undergoes sur lie aging with regular lees stirring and partial malolactic fermentation, followed by 4 to 6 months of maturation in seasoned French oak and stainless steel to build body and texture.
