ABOUT THIS WINE
The Krohn Colheita Port 2003 is a single-harvest Tawny Port produced by Quinta and Vineyard Bottlers (Wiese & Krohn) from the Douro region of Portugal. As a Colheita, it is aged in oak barrels for an extended period, a hallmark of this style. The 2003 vintage was influenced by a wet start to the year followed by a hot August, contributing to concentrated grape characteristics. Wiese & Krohn, established in 1865, has a long-standing reputation for quality Port wines, with their vineyards, including Quinta do Retiro Novo, being a key asset. The company is now part of The Fladgate Partnership.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Krohn Colheita Port 2003 is produced using traditional Port winemaking methods. Grapes are fermented in granite 'lagares' with foot-treading, followed by fortification with grape spirit. The wine then undergoes extended aging in oak barrels, a defining characteristic of Colheita Ports, which contributes to its complexity and maturation.
