ABOUT THIS WINE
La Dame de Montrose is the esteemed second wine of Château Montrose, a historic Second Growth estate in the Saint-Estèphe appellation of Bordeaux's Left Bank. First created in 1983, this cuvée pays tribute to Yvonne Charmolüe, who courageously managed the estate single-handedly from 1944 to 1960. Since the Bouygues family acquired the property in 2006, they have implemented a rigorous selection process, elevating the quality of La Dame by incorporating fruit from premier parcels that historically would have gone into the Grand Vin. This wine offers a more approachable, Merlot-dominant expression of the estate's unique gravelly terroir overlooking the Gironde estuary, allowing wine lovers to experience the pedigree of Montrose in its youth.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The 2016 vintage was crafted from a manual harvest between September 23rd and October 14th, with rigorous optical and manual sorting. Vinification took place plot-by-plot in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats to preserve the distinct character of each parcel. Maceration and fermentation lasted approximately 20 to 25 days, with daily pump-overs to gently extract color and structured tannins. The wine was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, with 30% new oak and the remainder in once-used barrels, ensuring a refined integration of wood and fruit.
