ABOUT THIS WINE
The La Motte Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is a white wine from La Motte Estate in the Western Cape, South Africa. It is primarily composed of Sauvignon Blanc (92%) with a smaller proportion of Sémillon (8%). The grapes are sourced from various areas within the Cape Winelands, including Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, and the Cape South Coast. La Motte Estate has a long-standing history in winemaking, dating back to 1695, and is currently owned by Hanneli Rupert-Koegelenberg and managed by her husband, Hein Koegelenberg. The 2023 vintage was influenced by cooler early summer conditions followed by harvest heatwaves. The wine is noted for its refreshing nature and balanced profile.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The La Motte Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is produced using grapes from various Western Cape locations. The winemaking process involves fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of 14°C. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes several months of aging on its fine lees to enhance complexity and texture. A blend with 8% Sémillon is incorporated to add further depth to the wine. The grapes were harvested at ripeness levels between 17° and 23° Balling.
