ABOUT THIS WINE
La Stella Marco Bonfante is a 100% Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG from Piedmont, Italy. The wine's name, 'La Stella,' pays homage to the original Stella agricultural estate surrounding the Bonfante winery in Nizza Monferrato. The Marco Bonfante Winery, established in 2000, is guided by siblings Marco and Micaela Bonfante, who uphold an eight-generation winemaking heritage. Their approach emphasizes elegance, simplicity, and clarity, aiming for balance in their wines. The vineyards are situated at 250 meters above sea level on calcareous clay marl soil, benefiting from a microclimate influenced by sea winds, which aids in the grapes' integrity and ripening, contributing to fragrant and elegant wines.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
La Stella Marco Bonfante is produced from 100% Barbera grapes. The winemaking process involves careful selection and handling of the fruit. For 50% of the yield, cold maceration is employed to extract specific components. The remaining 50% undergoes traditional vinification, which includes destemming, soft pressing, and a 10-day maceration period on the skins. Following vinification, the wine is aged for 10 months, with half of the production maturing in Slavonian oak barrels and the other half in used French oak barriques. This dual aging process is intended to impart complexity and structure to the final wine.
