ABOUT THIS WINE
La Val Albariño 2023 is a single-varietal white wine from the Rías Baixas DO in Galicia, Spain, produced by Bodegas La Val. The wine is a blend sourced from vineyards across three distinct soil types: granite, alluvium with pebbles, and schist, contributing to its complexity. These vineyards are situated in the southern Rías Baixas, with altitudes ranging from 30 to 350 meters. Bodegas La Val, established in 1985, is recognized as a historical founder and pioneer of the Rías Baixas DO, emphasizing estate-grown grapes and a commitment to quality and innovation. In 2023, the winery became part of the CVNE group. The 2023 vintage was characterized by an early harvest due to a warm spring, followed by a summer that facilitated slow grape ripening, resulting in aromatic musts with balanced acidity and alcohol.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for La Val Albariño 2023 begins with the grapes from Bodegas La Val's diverse vineyards. A portion of the grapes (40%) undergoes a 4-hour skin maceration at 10°C, followed by gentle pressing to select the free-run juice. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel vats at temperatures between 16-17°C. Following fermentation, the wine is aged on its fine lees for three months. The 2023 vintage was characterized by an early harvest in August, with grapes hand-picked into 20 kg cases and kept in cold storage. The winery's approach focuses on estate-grown grapes and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
