ABOUT THIS WINE
Weingut Lackner-Tinnacher, established in 1770, is one of the oldest and most respected estates in Austria's Southern Styria region. Located in Steinbach near Gamlitz, the winery has been managed since 2013 by Katharina Tinnacher, who transitioned the entire 27 hectares of steep hillside vineyards to certified organic viticulture. The Gamlitz Gelber Muskateller is an Ortswein (village wine) sourced from exceptionally old vines, some over 50 years of age, planted on steep slopes at elevations of 350 to 500 meters. The unique microclimate of the Gamlitz basin combined with light sand and gravel soils yields a wine of remarkable structural depth, precision, and territorial character, far exceeding the typical simple floral expressions of the variety.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process at Lackner-Tinnacher emphasizes minimal intervention to preserve the purity of the fruit. Grapes are meticulously hand-harvested in small crates to prevent bruising. Following careful sorting, the grapes undergo cold maceration on the skins for 18 hours to extract aromatic precursors and structural complexity. Fermentation is carried out spontaneously using 100% indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is then matured on its fine lees (Feinhefe) in stainless steel for approximately eight months, a process that imparts a velvety texture and roundness to the palate while safeguarding the vibrant, high-toned aromatics of the Gelber Muskateller grape.
