ABOUT THIS WINE
Lacrau Superior Branco is a distinguished white wine from Portugal's Douro DOC, produced by Secret Spot Wines. The 2022 vintage is crafted from a field blend of old vines, exceeding 50 years in age, predominantly featuring Gouveio, Viosinho, and Rabigato, with contributions from Códega do Larinho and Folgasão. The wine undergoes full fermentation and an extended aging period of approximately 15 months in French oak barrels, with regular stirring of the fine lees (bâtonnage). This meticulous process aims to capture the essence of the Douro's unique micro-terroirs, a core philosophy of Secret Spot Wines, founded by Gonçalo Sousa Lopes and Rui Walter Cunha with the ambition to create wines true to their roots.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking for Lacrau Superior Branco begins with a manual harvest and selection of grapes from old vines. The must is gently crushed and undergoes pre-fermentative skin maceration before static clarification. Crucially, the wine is fermented entirely in French oak barrels. Following fermentation, it is aged on its fine lees in these same barrels for about 15 months, with regular bâtonnage. The wine is then lightly filtered and bottled without cold stabilization, preserving its natural character and texture.
