ABOUT THIS WINE
Fariña Lágrima is a red wine from the D.O. Toro region of Spain, produced by Bodegas Fariña. It is made exclusively from 100% Tinta de Toro grapes, the local varietal for Tempranillo. The wine's name, 'Lágrima,' meaning 'tear,' highlights its unique production method: using only the free-run juice that flows from the grapes under their own weight, without any pressing. This gentle process contributes to its balanced profile. Bodegas Fariña, founded in 1942, is a family-run winery with a strong connection to the Toro region, having played a key role in establishing its Denominación de Origen. The vineyards are located on a high plateau, benefiting from an extreme continental climate that fosters grape quality.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Fariña Lágrima is produced using 100% Tinta de Toro grapes. The winemaking begins with a 24-hour cold soak at 10°C, followed by alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 25°C for 7-10 days. A distinctive aspect is the use of only free-run juice, known as 'lágrima,' obtained by gravity without pressing, which yields softer tannins and a fruit-forward profile. The wine is then aged for 6 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels. Bodegas Fariña employs modern, sustainable viticultural practices, including the double Guyot training system, and some vineyards are certified organic.
