ABOUT THIS WINE
Lamoresca Rosso is a red wine from Azienda Agricola Lamoresca, produced under the Terre Siciliane IGP classification in Sicily. The estate, founded in 2000 by Filippo Rizzo, is dedicated to organic farming and minimal intervention winemaking. Rizzo's return to his native Sicily was inspired by a passion for natural wines discovered while running a restaurant in Belgium. The vineyards are located at high altitudes, ranging from 430 to 550 meters, on soils composed of sandstone, clay, and limestone. The wine is a blend of Frappato, Nero d'Avola, and Grenache, reflecting the indigenous grape varieties of the region. The estate's philosophy emphasizes biodiversity and the preservation of natural habitats.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Lamoresca Rosso emphasizes natural methods. Grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in open vats or neutral wooden casks, with maceration on the skins lasting up to 30 days. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for about a year in concrete tanks or Slavonian oak vats. Minimal sulfur is added, if any, and the wine is typically bottled unfined and unfiltered. These techniques are employed to preserve the wine's natural character and express the unique terroir of the Sicilian vineyards.
