ABOUT THIS WINE
Taylor's Late Bottled Vintage Port 2020 is a fortified red wine from the Douro Valley, Portugal. As the originator of the LBV style, Taylor's offers a wine from a single harvest that is aged in wood for several years, making it ready to drink upon release without the need for decanting or further bottle aging. The grapes are sourced from prime vineyard sites within the Douro, including the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior sub-regions. The 2020 vintage was notable for its challenging climatic conditions, including extreme heat and low yields, which contributed to a concentrated and refined wine. Taylor's, established in 1692, is one of the oldest Port houses and has maintained a family-run ethos throughout its history, dedicating itself solely to the production of Port wine.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Taylor's Late Bottled Vintage Port is produced using traditional Douro grape varieties. The winemaking process involves fermentation that is arrested by the addition of grape spirit, resulting in a fortified wine with significant sweetness and a higher alcohol content (19% ABV). Taylor's employs modern techniques such as 'Port Toes' for efficient extraction during fermentation. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for four to six years in large oak vats. This extended period of maturation in wood allows the wine to develop and soften, preparing it for bottling and immediate enjoyment, distinguishing it from Vintage Ports that require further bottle aging.
