Le Blanc de Fontenil

Dany and Michel Rolland purchased Château Fontenil in 1986, originally searching for a Right Bank country home. After decades of establishing Fontenil as a premier red wine benchmark in Fronsac, the family’s personal love for Chardonnay prompted a radical project. In 2016, they pulled up a small plot of red grapes to plant white varieties. Because Chardonnay is legally forbidden in Bordeaux appellation guidelines, this rare, rebellious cuvée is classified under the broader Vin de France designation.
