ABOUT THIS WINE
Le Blanc de Fontenil is a dry white wine from Château Fontenil in the Fronsac appellation of Bordeaux, France. Produced by renowned oenologist Michel Rolland and his wife Dany, it is a unique expression from their personal estate. The wine is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Gris, and Muscadelle, a composition that leads to its Vin de France classification. The grapes are sourced from a small, one-hectare plot on the Fronsac plateau, replanted in 2017. The 2020 vintage represents only the second release of this limited-production wine, reflecting the Rollands' dedication to creating a distinctive white wine from their Bordeaux terroir.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Le Blanc de Fontenil is crafted from grapes grown on a one-hectare plot at Château Fontenil, replanted in 2017. The harvest is conducted by hand. Winemaking involves fermenting the different grape varieties separately, with some undergoing fermentation in new French oak barrels and others in concrete egg-shaped vats. Following fermentation, the wine is aged on its lees for nine months to enhance complexity and texture. The final blend is a deliberate creation by oenologists Michel and Dany Rolland, resulting in a Vin de France classification due to the inclusion of Chardonnay.
