ABOUT THIS WINE
The 2007 Le Colline Barbera D'Alba is a distinctive Italian red wine from Piedmont, produced by Dezzani S.r.l. under the Le Colline Srl label. Grapes are sourced from the Roero area within the Barbera d'Alba DOC. What sets this wine apart is its remarkable 18-year journey from vintage to release, including a decade spent aging in large, traditional oak casks followed by a period in concrete tanks. This extended maturation is highly atypical for Barbera, suggesting a deliberate effort to achieve profound complexity and maturity. The 2007 vintage in Piedmont was excellent, yielding ripe grapes with great structure, contributing to the wine's age-worthiness. Dezzani, established in 1934, is a family-run winery with a long legacy, now managed by the fifth-generation Rocca family, committed to traditional Piedmontese winemaking.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The 2007 Le Colline Barbera D'Alba is produced by Dezzani S.r.l. using 100% Barbera grapes. Following destemming and fermentation, the wine underwent a highly unconventional and extended aging process. It was matured for ten years in large, traditional oak casks ('botti'), a significant period that imparts complexity and softens the wine. After the oak aging, it was further matured in concrete tanks. The wine was bottled approximately 18 years after the vintage, with minimal intervention, being unfiltered, unfined, and with only a small addition of sulfur dioxide. This meticulous, long-term aging process is the defining characteristic of its production.
