ABOUT THIS WINE
Le Marie Rouge de Lissart is a red wine from the Pinerolese Rosso DOC in Piedmont, Italy, produced by Azienda Agricola Le Marie. It is a field blend crafted from indigenous grape varieties including Barbera, Freisa, Bonarda, Chatus, and Neretta Cuneese, grown on very old vines, some dating back to the 1930s and having survived World War II. The wine's name, 'Lissart,' is a tribute to the historical name of the region, 'Eyssart.' The producer, Azienda Agricola Le Marie, is a family-run estate founded in 2000, committed to organic farming and preserving ancient viticultural heritage. The vineyard is situated in Assarti, a hamlet of Barge, at altitudes between 350-450 meters, on soils composed of red schist rich in minerals. The marginal climate and high altitude contribute to the unique character of the grapes.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Le Marie Rouge de Lissart begins with hand-harvested grapes, which are crushed and de-stemmed. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks over 7-10 days at controlled temperatures. Following primary fermentation, the wine is decanted multiple times to encourage malolactic fermentation. The wine then matures for 8-10 months in steel vats, with no oak aging. This approach emphasizes the purity of the grape varietals and the influence of the vineyard's unique terroir.
