ABOUT THIS WINE
Le Roi 2009 is a 100% Cabernet Franc from the Saumur-Champigny appellation in the Loire Valley, produced by Domaine de Rocheville. The wine originates from old vines cultivated on clay-limestone terroir, specifically Upper Turonian green tufa chalk, situated on a hillside near Parnay. Domaine de Rocheville, established in 2004 by Philippe Porché, is committed to artisanal winemaking with a focus on precision and elegance, emphasizing the purest expression of their grape varietals. The estate has a history of sustainable viticulture, achieving Terra Vitis certification and converting to organic farming. The 2009 vintage benefited from favorable weather conditions in the Loire Valley, characterized by a mild winter and a warm, dry spring.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Le Roi 2009 is produced from 100% Cabernet Franc grapes. The winemaking process involves a maceration period of three to four weeks, including punching down the cap for extraction, followed by slow fermentation at low temperatures. The 2009 vintage was macerated for twenty-two days. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes aging in French oak barrels, with the 2009 vintage spending eight months in oak foudre. Domaine de Rocheville employs sustainable viticulture practices, including grassing over vines and protecting biodiversity, and holds organic certifications.
