ABOUT THIS WINE
Les Forts de Latour is a red wine from Château Latour, situated in the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux, France. First produced in 1966, it originates from separate vineyard parcels and vats that do not meet the criteria for the estate's Grand Vin. The vines used for Les Forts de Latour are typically at least 12 years old, with some plots averaging around 40 years. Under the management of Frédéric Engerer, the wine has seen consistent quality improvements. The 2016 vintage benefited from ideal weather conditions, particularly a hot and dry late summer and early autumn, contributing to its notable character.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Les Forts de Latour is produced using grapes from specific vineyard parcels and vats not selected for the Grand Vin. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel vats, a technique that aids in temperature control and the extraction of desirable elements. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes aging in French oak barrels, with approximately 50% of them being new. The aging period typically lasts between 18 to 24 months. The harvest for the 2016 vintage was conducted in late September for Merlot and mid-October for Cabernet Sauvignon, benefiting from ideal weather conditions.
