ABOUT THIS WINE
Les Lauzeraies Tavel is a rosé wine from the Tavel appellation in the Rhône Valley, France. Tavel is unique as it is the only French appellation exclusively dedicated to rosé wine, with a history dating back to Roman times. The wine is produced by Les Vignerons de Tavel & Lirac, a cooperative established in 1937, making it the oldest cooperative in the region. This cooperative represents approximately 45-50% of the Tavel appellation's production. The 'Les Lauzeraies' cuvée is named after the limestone soils, known as 'lauzes', found in the Tavel terroir. The 2023 vintage received a Gold medal at the Sakura Awards.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Les Lauzeraies Tavel involves hand-picked grapes that undergo direct pressing after a maceration period of 48 to 72 hours, which is longer than typical for rosé production and contributes to its character and color. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at temperatures between 13-14°C over roughly two weeks. The wine is usually bottled a few months post-harvest and is primarily intended for early consumption, though it has aging potential. The producer, Les Vignerons de Tavel & Lirac, is a cooperative that blends traditional and modern winemaking approaches.
