ABOUT THIS WINE
Lismore Estate Vineyards was founded in 2003 by Samantha O'Keefe, a UC Berkeley alumnus who moved from California to South Africa. She pioneered the remote, mountainous Greyton ward, single-handedly putting this cool-climate region on the international wine map. In December 2019, a devastating wildfire destroyed her home, winery, and parts of her vines. Demonstrating extraordinary resilience, O'Keefe rebuilt the estate, continuing to produce some of South Africa's most acclaimed cool-climate wines from the foothills of the Sonderend Mountain Range.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo a slow, gentle whole-bunch pressing before being cold-settled for 48 hours. Fermentation is carried out using 100% natural, spontaneous yeasts. In the 2024 vintage, only 20% malolactic fermentation was permitted to preserve the wine's vibrant, cool-climate acidity. The wine is matured for 11 to 12 months on its lees in 500-liter Burgundian oak barrels, of which 30% is new French oak, ensuring beautifully integrated wood character.
