ABOUT THIS WINE
The Listrão do Porto Santo 2022 is a white wine from Porto Santo, Madeira, produced by Companhia de Vinhos dos Profetas e dos Villões. It is made exclusively from the indigenous Listrão grape, with vines aged over 80 years. The wine's unique identity is deeply tied to its origin on Porto Santo, an island known for its ancient geology and strong maritime influence. This influence is a key characteristic of the wine. The producer, António Maçanita, aims to create distinctive wines from overlooked grape varieties, with this bottling representing a significant development as it was the first time Listrão was vinified on the island itself.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Listrão do Porto Santo 2022 was produced using hand-harvested Listrão grapes. The whole bunches were pressed directly into settling tanks, with the juice separated into three fractions. Fermentation occurred without the addition of sulfur dioxide until its conclusion. Following fermentation, the wine was aged for ten months in used, neutral French barriques. The production involved a strict selection process in the vineyard, with some areas harvested more than once.
