ABOUT THIS WINE
Lukas Van Loggerenberg is one of the leading figures of South Africa's New Wave wine movement, celebrated for crafting wines of immense clarity, elegance, and site-specific focus. The Lötter Cinsault is sourced from a historic single vineyard in Franschhoek, originally planted in 1932. This heritage site is one of the oldest registered red wine vineyards in South Africa. Lukas's philosophy centers on minimal intervention to allow the old-vine heritage to speak clearly, challenging the historical perception of Cinsault as a workhorse blending grape by elevating it to a world-class, single-varietal showcase.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes are hand-harvested from the historic 1932 Lötter vineyard. In the cellar, Lukas utilizes whole-cluster fermentation (typically around 40% to 100% depending on the vintage conditions) with native yeasts in open-top fermenters. This technique enhances the wine's structural complexity and aromatic lift. Following fermentation, the wine is gently pressed and aged for approximately 10 to 11 months in seasoned, neutral French oak barrels (mostly 500-liter casks) to preserve the delicate primary fruit and floral characteristics. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur additions.
