ABOUT THIS WINE
Mandolás Tokaj Oremus is a dry white wine from Hungary's Tokaj region, produced by Tokaj Oremus, an estate now under the Vega Sicilia group. The wine is made from 100% Furmint grapes, sourced from estate vineyards planted on volcanic subsoils. Its name, 'Mandolás,' refers to the historical name of the vineyard. This wine represents a contemporary approach to Tokaj winemaking, moving beyond the region's traditional sweet wine reputation to offer a dry, age-worthy expression of the Furmint grape.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Mandolás Tokaj Oremus is crafted from 100% Furmint grapes. Following a gentle pressing, 80% of the must is fermented in stainless steel tanks, while the remaining 20% ferments in new Hungarian oak barrels over 8-12 days. The wine is then aged for six months: 70% in oak barrels with bâtonnage for three months, followed by three months of still aging, and 30% in stainless steel. An additional year of bottle aging is suggested. Grapes are hand-harvested from estate vineyards situated at altitudes of 150-300 meters on volcanic soils.
