ABOUT THIS WINE
Mandriola de Lisboa is inspired by the vibrant, relaxed, and adventurous soul of Lisbon. A 'mandriola' is a wanderer or easy-going explorer who enjoys taking life without haste, represented on the bottle by an illustrated cat wandering Lisbon's historic alleys. The wine is produced by Aveleda, a historic family-owned company founded in 1870 by Manoel Pedro Guedes in Penafiel. Today managed by the fifth generation of the family, Aveleda is Portugal's largest producer and exporter of Vinho Verde. They launched the Mandriola de Lisboa brand in 2020 as their first major venture into the Lisboa wine region, aiming to showcase the fruit-forward versatility and coastal-influenced terroir of the area.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for this red blend begins with grapes grown in the clay-limestone soils of the Lisboa region. After de-stemming and soft crushing, the grapes undergo a period of cold pre-fermentative maceration to extract deep color and primary fruit aromas. This is followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats at approximately 24ºC to preserve fresh fruit characteristics. A portion of the wine is then aged for six months in French and American oak casks to add complexity and structure. The enological team is led by Director of Enology Diogo Campilho, winemaker Susete Rodrigues, and Bordeaux-based consulting oenologist Valérie Lavigne.
