ABOUT THIS WINE
The Marchesa Mariabella Valpolicella Ripasso DOC from Massimago is a red wine from the Veneto region of Italy, specifically the Valpolicella sub-region. Produced by Massimago, a winery with a family legacy dating back to 1883, it is made from Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes. The estate is owned by Camilla Rossi Chauvenet, who has guided Massimago towards organic and sustainable practices since taking over in 2003. The wine's unique identity is further highlighted by its contemporary 'Marchesa Mariabella' label, described as 'Italian Facebook,' and the distinctive 'ripasso' winemaking technique. The 2022 vintage is noted for its specific characteristics, reflecting the year's growing conditions.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Marchesa Mariabella Valpolicella Ripasso DOC is produced using a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes. The winemaking process begins with hand-harvested grapes that undergo prolonged skin maceration in steel tanks. A key technique is the 'ripasso' method, where the wine undergoes a second fermentation on the pomace of Amarone. Malolactic fermentation is completed in stainless steel. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, followed by bottle refinement. Massimago is committed to organic farming practices, having been certified organic since 2014 and avoiding synthetic materials since 2008, while also incorporating some Biodynamic principles.
