ABOUT THIS WINE
Schubert Marion's Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021 is a 100% Pinot Noir from the Wairarapa region of New Zealand. The wine is produced by Schubert Wines, established by German winemakers Kai Schubert and Marion Deimling, who sought an ideal terroir for Pinot Noir. Their estate in Martinborough emphasizes traditional European viticultural practices. Marion's Vineyard, situated in the Gladstone subregion, is known for producing elegant and approachable Pinot Noir, characterized by its fine tannin structure and red fruit focus. The 2021 vintage experienced specific weather patterns, including spring frosts and a dry summer, which influenced its development.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Schubert Marion's Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021 begins with hand-picked and carefully selected grapes. The fruit is 100% de-stemmed and undergoes cold maceration before fermentation in stainless steel vats. During fermentation, gentle pigeage (punch-downs) is employed. The wine remains on its skins for three weeks. Following fermentation, it is aged for 18 months in French oak barriques, with 35% new and 65% used oak for the 2021 vintage. Schubert Wines emphasizes a philosophy of uncompromising quality and traditional winemaking techniques.
